In this sermon we “cross the finish line” in our verse-by-verse journey through the book of 1 Peter. We’ve seen Peter’s heart to shepherd followers of Jesus who are facing incredible suffering and persecution. Peter’s letter has reminded them (and us) of God’s great love and that we can live with Christ-Centered Hope amid the “fiery trials” everyone will face in this life. Peter has reminded us that as God’s beloved children we can live daily with confidence that HE is with us in the struggle. And, because HE is our Father and the God of all Creation, HE will be faithful in all HIS promises to us. My prayer throughout this journey has been that we might live, not just with confidence in our Good and Beautiful GOD, but with a GREAT EXPECTATION of life with HIM. This morning we see Peter concluding his letter with a message on how we, as God’s Chosen-Refugees, might “finish well”!
