Most of us know the Christmas Story didn’t began with Rudolph or Frosty, or Santa with elves in a little shop making gifs. However, it may surprise you to learn that it also didn’t begin with the events recorded in the New Testament featuring Mary, Joseph, and a baby, or the shepherds and wise men. For us the Christmas Story is all about the Infant-Savior coming to deliver us and give us life and freedom. Yes, Jesus coming that first Christmas has made all the difference in the world, and will continue to do so. It is such a beautiful story, that we sometimes forget that it has a “backstory”! Merriam-Webster dictionary defines “backstory” as “a story that tells what led up to the main story or plot (as of a film).” The backstory of Christmas is not filled with the joy, hope, peace, and love of the Christmas Story. Instead there was sin and despair and distance and hopelessness.
This year at Riverbluff we’re going to take a look “Behind the Scenes” of Christmas to see how and when and why GOD wrote the Christmas Story into reality. We hope you’ll join us for all four messages in this series entitled CHRISTMAS: Behind the Scenes!
