Midland Park Community Ministries

MPMC Logo

Midland Park Community Ministries, MPCM, was incorporated in the state in 2002 and received its nonprofit status as  a 501 (c) (3)  in 2005.   Eleven years ago, Riverbluff Church (formerly Midland Park Baptist Church)  decided to cement its commitment to the community it resided in for almost 60 years by creating a ministry center to provide emergency assistance (food, clothing, financial) to low-income families in North Charleston.  By building relationships, we provide the means to help break the cycle of poverty.

MPCM is located at 2427 Midland Park Road in North Charleston, which is the site of the original church formed in 1946.  Midland Park Road is located between Rivers Avenue and Ashley Phosphate Road.

Our organization depends on volunteers. They are a diverse group of people who offer their time, commitment, and experience to make a difference in the local community. Volunteers do all sorts of things and the hours are flexible.  As a volunteer, you will make new friends, learn new skills, gain valuable experience, and meet others who share the same values and interests.

Salt ‘n Light Ministry is the name of our community food pantry and clothes closet. Our mission includes providing for basic human needs (food, clothing, & emergency financial help).  Clients receive job and educational information/referrals and knowledge of community services and other programs that may be qualified to receive.  When needed we are able to offer pastoral counseling, through Coy Meadows (on-site counselor) and other support groups, church referrals, etc. through networking with other faith-based programs.

Low income and needy families in our service area come once a month to receive needed food and hygiene items to help supplement food stamps and other low income programs they have been qualified under.  Our volunteers interview each family for information, qualification, prayer needs, and resources for other needs we can direct them to.

Educational programs

Making Ends Meet basic budget class is being offered quarterly to all clients at no cost. We especially target clients who seek financial assistance. The class has been made possible through our partnership with The Home Ownership Resource Center (Division of Family Services). They provide the materials and an instructor. We have received many positive comments about the class.

The CARS Ministry

The purpose of the CARS ministry of Riverbluff Church is to meet transportation needs for single mothers by reconditioning donated vehicles or obtaining vehicles when necessary to meet specific needs. In the rush of life for a single mother, sometimes dependable transportation is the difference between unemployment and keeping a meaningful job.
